Depends pads. Old vs new

Posted by budisnothome @budisnothome, Jun 7 10:53am

Has anyone tried the new thinner style depends guards? Does it hold very much liquid and stay in place? Why did they mess with something so many of us rely on...

They are more comfortable than the old type,seem to absorb the same amounts as the old ones.

The new Depends hold a lot, don't bulge under my pants or shorts, are comfortable, and worth their weight in gold! I buy them in the larger box, about 40 quantity. I had the radical removal of the prostate. Still leaking, but I use one per day, catches all of them.

Been wearing Guards since my surgery in 2004 to maintain my post-surgery quality of life. I wear Shields at night. To me, the new Guard design is just a larger Shield. I do not like the shape of the new Guards. The new design does not keep me in place and secure. When I leak, it is into the edge of the pad and into my underwear. Never had this problem with the old design.
I ordered old ones but got new ones instead.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. Depends changed their guards without advertising it. I think they changed them in May or June 2026. They are the same price but about half as effective, so you’ll go through twice as many. I just called their customer line and complained. They’re sending me two $28 refunds. I don’t know why they’re doing it that way, but now I need to find something that works.

I’ve used depends guards for the last 17 years. And they have worked just perfectly fine until the new version came out last year or this year. These new pads they leak along the sides where the old ones did not. I sure would like to have the old ones back. I’ve had to change my jeans seven times already since using these new pads the last two months.

@marexroat
Try the Tena pads. They work quite well. Amazon has them. Very absorbent.

I’ve heard other people complain about these new depends pads.

Hey I use the new ones I like them better. More comfortable. I find in my case just as absorbent as the old ones. But let me ask you this how often did you have to change the old ones. I saw where Jeff recommends Tena. Yes very good product too expensive. If you want to try them Tena will send you a sample pack. Hey you probably know this already but just in case. Diet helped me out tremendously from 5 pads a day to 3. That’s a win for me.

I was never offered nor did I know of the pelvic floor therapy. Keagles was the only option I had. In a combination on incontinence I seem develop over active bladder a lot of broken sleep. I didn’t even wear a pad months after surgery. The problem came after radiation when I had a recurrence. Well I’ll have to look into the pelvic floor therapy. Good luck and thanks for answering my reply
