After colon resection: What helps with severe gas?

@queenvictoria1952, you've had major surgery. It will take time for the gas and bowels to settle. You're about 4 weeks out from surgery now. Have you noticed an improvement over the past 10 days or so?

@colleenyoung I had a resection in January of 2025. I still am very careful what I eat.
I think that’s just how it will be.
Eat nothing (broccoli, beans,etc) that will create more gas.
Kind of had to figure it out for myself. Medical people just said to eat what I could tolerate which was not helpful.
Rather bland diet but worth it to feel more comfortable.
I certainly was not back to eating normally in a few weeks. I eat smaller amounts and earlier in the day.
Don’t get discouraged.
Day at a time!
