my friend (93yo) of 40 years for the last 2 weeks is not the person I've known all these years. He has become rude, nasty, being secretive, refusing to take his medication, when I visited on Sunday, he told me to leave and not come back.
I don't understand his altered state of mind so suddenly. Sure he's had slips in the past, but this is as if he's possessed by an evil spirit suddenly. He has no family left, I'm his last friend, and this change makes me feel so sad. Has anyone had a similar experience with an explanation?

@1995victoria There are many areas in the brain. Some control movements. Others control learning ability and yet others control emotions. In brain degeneration, areas may be affected differently. Thus, some people can walk for miles but would keep getting lost while others become argumentative and even aggressive while others become sweet and docile. Just remember your friend is not the person you remember. Wait a while and try to visit another time.
