Have been part of long-term study and get regular CT's with and without contrast. In December of 2024 results indicated "nodules concerning for neoplasm". Protocol called for lung biopsy to determine if cancer. Took relatively strong antibiotics for a month rather than immediate CT. Follow-up CT showed that largest nodule shrunk 40% and 2nd largest disappeared altogether.
VERY relieved that apparently it was an infection rather that cancer and biopsy not required at that time. Infection probably in conjunction with teeth that had been pulled a short time prior.
Have been diagnosed with emphysema for 4 or 5 years. Smoked 40 years averaging over pack a day so no real surprise but did not know of emphysema until found by accident from other CT's. Am almost 82 and still very active but effects of emphysema starting to show. Fortunate that things are not any worse (or so I hope) and am curious about the upcoming test.
I remember how relieved I was with the last test and am hoping for no adverse findings with my next CT later this month.
