I have experience with taking flecainide, and I can say that all of the anti-arrhythmia medications, unfortunately can have some bad side effects. Amiodarone can damage your lungs as well as cause problems with your eyes and other organs. I tok flecainide for years, and I was having all kinds of problems. shortness of breath, fatigue, and just not being able to function. I found out that I have heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. Flecainide is contra indicated for heart failure. Finally, I got my electrophysiologist to take me off the flecainide, and the sudden shortness of breath and fatigue problems I was having went away. He said that because I had an He said that because I had a long QT on my EKG, and low blood pressure and lung problems there were none of the other anti-arhythmic meds
that I could take. After I was weaned from flecainide, I started having a fib at least once a week and then I went into a fib with RVR. I had to go to the hospital by ambulance and my blood pressure dropped really low because my heart was going so fast. It was very scary. The Cardiology team at OHSU decided to put me on. Digoxin. It is not used for a fib, but it lowers your heart rate. The hope was that if I went into a fib again that I wouldn’t go into RVR. Also, Digoxin helps your heart squeeze better, in heart failure patients, so I have actually been doing better. You will have to do your own research and find a doctor that really knows his stuff. Also, ask many questions and ask if there’s alternatives. I hope everything goes well for you.
