Does anyone besides me get a little bit hyper on tramadol?
My question concerns tramadol use, specifically, but my experience is that I get a little hyper from tramadol, other opioids, and even benadryl. I use tylenol every 6 hrs religiously, take 50 to 100 mgs of tramadol when things are worse than I can handle, but I find if I take it after 3pm, I will undoubtedly have a restless night. I will be able to stay awake later than usual, but I will not sleep well once I fall asleep. I take Tizanidine at bedtime, and another after 1 am with a 1mg lorazapam, but on nights when I have resorted to a later dose of tramadol, I toss and turn. I have pretty severe RA and the typical joint and muscle pain that accompanies that (18 yrs of RA). My rheumatologist has no issues with my needing and taking pain meds, so I could ask for something else, but experience (a few big surgeries) has told me that the problem applies to all opioid meds. I'm curious about others experiences. I'd love to have better pain relief at night.

Not for me. I get a modest morning feel good bump and that's it. Nothing after that. Whether I take it at bedtime or not I see very little effect on sleep. I usually take 100mg in the morning and 100mg late afternoon.

1 ReactionI have peripheral neuropathy and fibromyalgia. I am prescribed 3 tramidol per day and if I take the third one I can barely sleep at all. It does help me though the rest of the day though by kinda giving me energy it seems.

3 ReactionsMay want to look up "serotonin syndrome" to be safe. Sleeplessness can be a side effect of some pain meds.

1 ReactionI have been using Tramadol 50mg for awhile. If necessary, will take a second but no side effects to speak of. Almost always lessons pain.

2 ReactionsI live in Ct and have heavily leaned on medical marijuana for my pain. I use the Indica blend for nighttime before bed and it helps me fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. Not sure what other avenues you have tried but in 10+ years of dealing with significant pain levels, marijuana is still the best and most effective for me.

1 ReactionI sure get hyper so don’t take it often . I’ve found muscle relaxants like Baclofen (sp ?) more effective for me. Suggest including pharmacist for recommendations. They are knowledgeable about what may be helpful. Also try to see an APRN if you live in area where you can access one. I’ve found they usually are more up-to-date than most doctors. Good luck!

1 ReactionI don't get hyper from taking Tramadol. I take it every morning to take the edge off the pain in my lower back. My doctor tell's me if I use It too much that it loses its effectiveness. I'm careful in limiting my use to it. I've never felt hyper from it.
