I don't think the science hasn't really changed. Progesterone is primarily prescribed to protect the uterine lining in women taking estrogen. Without a uterus, that benefit isn't needed. Some clinicians still prescribe micronized progesterone after hysterectomy for issues like sleep or hot flashes, but that's generally based on symptom management rather than a recommendation that all women without a uterus should take it.
