@virtuous that is really weird. Never heard of anything like twisted intestine. How did they diagnose that? Is there nothing they can do for you. I don't understand why they wouldn't just do an ultrasound to start. I get it though, who wants to put another condition to long list of them, but that just doesn't sound ok.You said other operations, what kinds if you don't mind me asking. If abdominal types, you should get tested for SIBO. It can cause so many different symptoms. Good luck to you.
@virtuous I just thought of one more thing. I found out my diagnosis from going to the er. They did the ct scan and it went from there. I would suggest that next time you are in pain you go to the er and I would be surprised if they did not do some kind of scan. If you haven't already done that of course...If you do please let me know what happens. You have to be your own advocate unfortunately. I am fortunate to have a wonderful pc. She didn't know about SIBO and she was happy to learn anything from me so that she could help others. She said they never taught that in med school, and she is young. She said if a doctor isn't open to your ideas and listen, they are not for you. As long as you do it with tact.....
@jmmb Hello. Your post sounds scary. I,ve had upper abdominal pain for years that usually has flare-ups. My PC told me I have an adominal hernia of my esophagus going into my stomach. Also have digestive issues and PC thought I have acid reflux. Anyway the scariest thing I've encountered in doing some mild exercises in that involve lifting your legs was that it. I twisted and intestine and laying flat at night several times in my adult life it would feel like the intestine was trying to go back to the original position and it was the most painful thing like childbirth that I've ever experienced in my life I literally screamed and screamed and screamed. Have never done anything about it but I can tell when my intestines are going through an IBS flare up as my bathroom issues so very very slender ribbon like I try to eat lots of fiber but not the wrong kind I can't digest things like broccoli or cauliflower. So since I don't have this all the time I just live with the flaps wonder if exercising kind of like a mile setup of sorts turns my in my intestines around and it is can be very painful even doing bathroom elimination from time to time.My gastro doc who did routine colonoscopy explain to me that upon eliminating the intestines will enlarge and then after you have gone to the bathroom they shrink back to normal size and that can be very very irritating and painful. I,ve text my PC if I could have an ultrasound or scan of my intestines because for some reason I don't think something is right I think there's a lot of scar tissue from operations causing problems but that's never been ordered for me and I just deal with it not wanting to add another disease situation to my shopping cart of troubles. Wishing you many blessings and hope there will be no more reoccurring problems. Signed virtuous 69
