I am having the same issues for several years and after multiple cardiac and non-cardiac testings to determine the root cause, I am having symptoms that presents like Orthostatic Hypotension and straight up Hypertension. To that end, I am bouncing from one specialist to another trying to determine what is the cause of my issues and most importantly, what needs to be done to make me feel better despite what the labs and test results may be showing! Right now, I feel the same symptoms described to start this chat and they are happening more frequently and lasting longer throughout the day as I get older ( I am 65). This condition is limiting my ability to do relatively light chores around the house, exercise, play a round of golf, etc. Right now I am being treated with Midodrine and Amlodipine depending on whether my BP is low or high. Feels like a game of Russian roulette. I have exhausted all relevant cardiac testing and all possible cardiac issues have been ruled out, so I am now being referred to Neurology and Endocrinology to provide their insights

Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you’ve been through an extensive evaluation, and I can understand how frustrating it must be to have symptoms that are becoming more frequent and limiting your daily activities. I hope the neurology and endocrinology consultations help bring some answers after all the cardiac causes have been ruled out.

Several have commented in the discussion, Why do I have dangerously low and dangerously high blood pressure? I am tagging @lp5 who may also find browsing through from the beginning: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/what-do-i-have-dangerously-low-and-dangerously-high-blood-pressure/

@larryhayes, I know it’s been a few months since you started this discussion. I wondered if you have an update on how your feeling and if you have learned more about what has been causing your blood pressure swings?

@krg12267 I had similar issues. what has finally helped me is fasting and time restricted eating. I now eat two meals a day and the dinner is at 6. No snacking in between meals. I go to bed around 10 and try to get 6 to 7 hours of sleep. I now go for a morning walk to set my circadian clock. This routine has worked better than Amlodipine, which was making me miserable. I no longer take it. Hypertension is a metabolic disease and absolutely connected to our gut health. And yes, I eat a whole foods plant based, no salt, sugar or oil diet.

@krg12267 I have that, but I have an adrenal Disorder with renin and aldoserone. I’ve had 24 hour urine testing and labs. I’ve been to an endocrinologist and I’ve been to a nephrologist and unfortunately, I have care gaps that can’t be filled in. I’ve been to cardiology as well. Things where I live there’s a lack of quality care and I haven’t been able to find out what’s going on. But they have been replacing my potassium. It gets very low. I’m hoping you can find the care that you deserve and that you need. no one should have to go through this. I really hope you find your way soon.
