My numbers were lower than yours. And finding a well trained or even a modestly trained physician in the field of Osteoporosis would have been difficult. It has changed so much but has a long way to go.
Do you have an experienced and well trained physician to help guide you? There are a number of people here and elsewhere have had consults with
Dr. Keith McCormick a chiropractor with osteoporosis who was an athlete as well. He wrote a book called great bones.
If it were me, I would make sure that the prescribing physician was monitoring the medication using bone marker blood work. This would give a way to track the effectiveness of the med without having to wait one or even two years for a dexa scan.
Perhaps someone here has had a situation similar to yours and can comment on their choice and what they have experienced.
