No it was never discussed with him prior to surgery, nothing was ever mentioned about a hernia or any other issues- just prostate, lymph nodes, nerves and seminal vesicles.
Some additional notes from surgery operation.
The patient elected after discussing options to do a robotic prostatectomy. Risks for the procedure include bleeding, infection, possible impotence, incontinence, vesical neck contracture, injury to contiguous organs. He understood all risks, wished to proceed.
