IBS: How to get rid of or ease the symptoms?

Posted by vkzwkansas @vkzwkansas, Oct 23, 2011

I have tried about everything to get rid or ease the symptoms of IBS. I have had a colonoscopy, celiac test, ultra sound on uterus, endoscopy, food allergy test, etc. I had my gallbladder removed and that helped some. I have tried probiotics, dicyclomine, imodium, colestipol, staying away from wheat and corn products. Right now I am taking Aloecure and that isn't helping. Nothing seems to help ease the symptoms. Imodium will take care of the diarrhea when that is the problem but I still have to deal with multiple bowels movements and feeling of still having to go all day long, every day. Does anyone have any other ideas of what a person could try?

Hello
As a long time IBS -D sufferer,I can empathize with anyone suffering this disease. Does anyone also experience internal shaking? I was seen by a Neurologist and had CAT scans but they found nothing.

The shaking is more noticible when seated and at times my right bicep will quiver. Some supect nerve damage from taking Doxycycline when I had Pneumonia in 2019. I suspect the link between IBS and the Tremors. It is not life threatening but it sure is annoying. Thanks Alan

Hello, I have been taking 2 peppermint capsules 30-60 minutes before eating for several months now. Can't really say I notice any help. Maybe a tiny bit. I am wondering if the peppermint might be irritating my chronic gastritis. I stopped the ginger tea for that reason. Hope they work for you! Best wishes!

I started the Nerva hypnotherapy phone app a week ago. There is no live clinician. $199 for a year, but only 42 sessions. About 90% of people don't complete the 42 sessions. Might be useless. Anyone else using Nerva? Thanks!

From what I’ve learned there is no cure. It can be beautifully managed by going through the FODMAP process and then avoiding the foods that are your triggers. Also Nerva helps a lot!

Glad to hear Nerva helped you. I started it a week ago and I have to pay my $199 today so I guess I will go ahead and do that. I am hoping I will experience less pain and hypersensitivity and less constipation. Thanks for your input. Any more details on your experience with Nerva would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes.

For a month, avoid all foods you tested positive for on your allergy tests.

@glutenfreecuredmycrohns Have been through the food, the sleep and mental problems, etc. causeing the IBS-D and nothing worked. After 3 1/2 years finally found a PA that help me. I had my gallbladder out 4 years ago but no one considered that. The gallbladder helps in the digestion of fat consummed. Have cut down on fat as much as possible. Now eat cooked oatmeat for breakfast, then take 1 tablespoon of acacia fiber with 8oz water . Just before eating lunch and dinner I take one capsules of Digest Gold. Digest Gold has enzymes to help with the digesting of foods. Can be bought on Amazon. After lunch and dinner I then take 1 scoop of Cholestyramine Light Power mixed in 4 oz of water. You need a script for this. I do on rare occasions I have a problems but find it is because I was too light with the fiber. I do try and eat foods that are high in fiber. This is something to consider if your gallbladder was removed. You will have to take a stool test but it is not an invasive test.

You might look into Low Dose Naltrexone and see if it is right for you.

Nerva is now free for those over 65 years old.

I got some kind of a deal last year where I paid $119, I think it was for a year.
