I’m 8 months on Tymlos at age 63.
Thanks to this forum I’ve requested HRT also 10 years after menopause. (Advice: I have Kaiser, and a friend warned me they would not prescribe for bone; instead you have to say you’re experiencing hot flashes, bad sleep, classic menopause symptoms. Such a disservice to women, but it worked and they prescribed. )
But here’s my new dilemma: I’m on the 100 progesterone pill /.025 estradiol patch. It’s been one week and sleep is worse, I feel bloated and like I have to pee all the time, headaches, breast tenderness, deep fatigue. Dr said give it another week or two but this sucks! I feel like a moody teenager all over again!
Has anyone else experienced this and did it improve??
Thank you 🙏

@lp30, i'm sorry to hear about the not-so-smooth start with HRT. I actually use the exact same dose combo as you. I also experienced breast tenderness - it lasted about 6-7mo for me, and while it was definitely bothersome, it stayed at a tolerable 2-3/10 on the pain scale.

Many, myself included, find that progesterone significantly improves sleep. However, initially, I did have some morning grogginess. I managed to fix this by shifting my dose to 2 hours before bedtime, and take the pill with a small fatty snack such as peanut butter, which increases the absorption of progesterone. I wonder if those maneuvers might make a difference for you. I've read that for those who truly can’t tolerate oral progesterone, some OBGYNs would deploy off-label methods, such as intravaginal delivery.

I've also read that hormone fluctuations, especially estrogen, can trigger headaches that usually ease up over time. Hope these side effects are short-lived for you!
