I am 88 year old female recently diagnosed with a 5 cm aneurysm on ascending aorta. Because of my age and the fact that I have no family I have decided against having open heart surgery and to try to live with the condition. I exercise a lot as prescribed and walk as well to try to keep my blood pressure at acceptable level. However,it is difficult to not get stressed over this ticking time bomb that I have.

We are your family! It is normal to be stressed. And there's not a day that I don't think about it, and I pray about it most every night. And it helps to connect with this group and learn what knowledge others have gained.

@birgitdew My mum had surgery for an aneurysm at 86 and it did not go to well. The procedure is quite demanding for younger people and I think you are quite wise to opt out of the operation and just live life to the fullest. With precautions and proper follow up, you could probably have a very long life. Live a day at a time and have a ball!
