I was just diagnosed with Afib two weeks ago. I had had 3 or 4 short episodes of rapid heart beat over several months and finally went to the ER when it lasted all afternoon. They were just getting ready to give me medication to get back in rhythm when it corrected itself. I was put on Eliquis, 250mg of propafenone twice a day and 12.5 mg metropolol twice a day. When I had a follow up with the cardiologist they took me off of the metropolol because my heart rate was 48. This week I have had episodes every day lasting 3-4 hours. I’m worse than I ever was! I talked to the PA and told her maybe I needed a change of medications or up the dosage. She said she would get a message to the doctor but I didn’t hear back from them. Getting very frustrated. I had an echo and a calcium score and my heart is good. I’m 64 and in great health.
@donnabelle Hi, donnabelle. I have had a variety of AFib pretty steadily for several years. The best medicine I have found is metropolol tartrate. I was having spells of several days when my tachy was running about 153 for hours at a time, and nothing was stopping it. I take a 12.5 in the morning, and half a pill at night. Seems like an inexpensive relief to me, especially when MT is a tier one drug. My heart is pretty strong also, but the electricity seems to want to short out occasionally, both in the sensory-motor cardiac nerves, and the nerves to my arms and legs and crotch. https://bit.Ly/1w7j4j8
