Hope this helps: "Free and low-cost accommodations are available for cancer patients traveling to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. The most prominent option is the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Rochester, MN, which provides free lodging for patients and their caregivers, though a referral from your treatment doctor or social worker is required." Welcome to Mayo Connect.
It is always hard to determine how long you need to stay and when safe to travel. Is it the surgeon who is telling you the requirements for staying in town for 6-7 days after being dismissed from the hospital? Is it for a follow-up appointment?
Do you care to share what Mayo location you have surgery scheduled at and the type of surgery?
