Symptoms of cobalt poisoning?

Posted by chadessa @chadessa, Oct 17, 2022

After 12+ years post THR have a diagnosis of cobalt poisoning. My level is 5.6 currently and I wonder what symptoms might be from long term exposure. Docs say that is too low to cause problems but I have spasms, loss of smell and other symptoms. What have others experienced?

@sueinmn Hello, how are you? Thank you so much for shedding light on this. I contacted the practice where I had surgery done to get a second opinion. I think it’s best to remove it. It just doesn’t feel right to me. Still waiting on the lab work and all the mysterious medical incidents like taste metallic in my mouth and unshakable fatigue are starting to make sense now.

@hyeyeon72 I am doing well now, the replacevments are functioning beautifully after 15 years. I do have a few residual issues from the metal poisoning - tremors, high heart rate (med resistant) and a "broken thermostat" - always too warm and prespring freely, but I have learned to live with them. The heavy metal levels returned to normal by one year after surgery.
