How to wean off of Pristiq Desvenlafaxine

Posted by kmk2166 @kmk2166, 2 days ago

Hello, I have been on a low dose of desvenlafaxine for over 2 years and I would like to get off of it. At the beginning of this year I told my doctor I wanted to wean off and he recommended me to take it every other day. Well as other users know, brain zaps and cognitive disfunction occur in the absence of taking it. Well it left me feeling awful of course and when I told him this the next appointment her then said I should be taking it every day. I was very confused as thats what he told me to do.

So, I am hoping to learn the best ways to wean off without negative effects. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Pristiq can be a hard one to taper because of the way it is formulated. My doctor had me gradually switch to Prozac first and weaning off that was a smooth process.
