I take it twice a day, in the morning and at bedtime.

Doctor told me it's common for people that get dehydrated easily and I get dehydrated easy because of my Short Bowel Syndrome.

Do you drink enough liquids? There's a formula to determine fluid intake based on body weight. Also a product called equalactin to help with water balance.

""Equalactin is an over-the-counter bulk-forming laxative. Its active ingredient, calcium polycarbophil, equalizes water balance in the bowel to relieve both occasional constipation and loose stools/diarrhea. Tablets must be thoroughly chewed and swallowed with a full 8 oz glass of water.""

Because of my Short Bowel Syndrome I only absorb 30% of my intake so I have to have LR IV fluids 5 times a week. My fluids need to have sodium and glucose in them for them to absorb in my body. Plain water can make me dehydrated and remove the electrolytes from my body. I usually have diarrhea but 3-4 imodium helps. I am on a low fiber diet. Can't take bulking laxatives, Metamucil also makes me constipated.

@tjanet I don't understand how that's possible. Miralax is a mix of fibers. All designed to make the "go" easier. How did you ascertain that it's the Miralax?

@heisenberg34 Miralax is not a fiber additive. It adds water to stools (for most people). You’re thinking of Metamucil I think. That’s added fiber.

@tumblewind Right. I was thinking of the other stuff, orange flavored. Has psillium fiber and other fibers in it.

It's meant to add bulk to your stool. Years ago I subscribed to a newsletter from Dr Julian Whitaker. In one issue he stated that people ought to defecate similar to cows in texture.

I've been sipping a little bit of MiraLax daily the last few months, and it has pretty-much solved my constipation problems (probably due to being dehydrated from 28 years of type 2 diabetes and not drinking enough water).
I mix one packet of powder in a 16 oz bottle of water, shake it real well, and it lasts me for several days -- having a couple of sips with each meal or snack. It usually produces normal results in 2-4 days.
