My son was in a car accident and suffered a TBI. He was in a coma for weeks and the hospital and nursing home for over a year. That was almost 30 years ago. We had to teach him to talk, walk, toilet train him. Teach him how to smile He was 22. He is doing well. He has works at UPS been married 26 years and has a son. I won’t lie it hasn’t been easy but so worth it. Patience is a virtue

@nrdl2879 - thanks for sharing your son's story. As a mom, I would feel very scared if one of my children was in a coma for weeks, and then in the hospital and a nursing home for a long time. That, along with having to teach him how to do everything all over again, would require extreme patience and love.

Glad to hear he is doing well, employed, married and has a child. Sounds like he has come an amazingly long way.

What helped you to get through the past 30 years since this occurred?
