@moria12 Hi moria12, Since I wrote the above, I've commented on Nidra on several other threads.
One update I want to share with you is the company was just sold last month. It seems the original developers are no longer involved (I think)... I have raved about the company's responsiveness and I hope their high level of service continues. Please, let us know if they are still helpful when you talk to them.
Another thing: it seems for insurance to approve Nidra, your doctor needs to note you have tried the range of RLS medications and have not had full relief. (It's a prescription-only device).
Medicare (after approval) rents it for 13 months and then it is yours (assuming it has been helpful). Medicare Advantage Plans and commercial insurance buy it outright. Nidra needs these sticky pads changed weekly and insurance covers their cost.
While I've had wonderful success, not everyone does.
And, even with great effectiveness, it wasn't an overnight process. There is adjustment to just using Nidra. For me that might have been a month. Then, for my decrease in frequency of RLS, I think this began about 5 months into using Nidra. (The device has been known to retrain the brain--which happened to me). Just keep an open mind, use as directed, and see what happens.
For me, my tremendous improvement with RLS requires both medication and the Nidra. I tried to decrease the amount of medication I take (after I started to have long periods with no symptoms because of the Nidra) but that didn't work (symptoms returned). Also, RLS induced insomnia has left me with some post-traumatic stress disorder about sleep. I make it a point to reduce stress associated with going to bed and keep my bedtime pleasant (and try to make it consistent).
Wishing you the same level of success I have had. Please report back and let everyone know how things are going. If you have additional questions, there are a few of us with positive Nidra experience who can share.
