I got my path report back for RARP & there were 2 (0.5mm) margins at bladder base & bladder neck. I wondered why they didn’t do frozen section to check. Now I see others do that & I am disappointed. I have to wonder if I have greater chance of salvage radiation.

I know they can check margins at the prostate bed and examine the lymph nodes removed. I have not heard of margins checked at bladder base and bladder neck during the prostatectomy. I don’t know if that is something they are able to do, or that is a very unfortunate finding after the fact with the tissue taken out. I would be interested in knowing further. Have you had your post surgical appointment to go over your pathology?
