Anyone been diagnosed with GIST Tumor in the stomach?

Diagnosed in 2023 went to ER for chest pain after ct scan said I wasn’t having a heart attack but I did have cancer told me right there GIST part of stomach and esophagus told me to go to a gastroenterologist that week gastroenterologist did EUS confirmed GIST sent to gastric onocologist had surgery they went back and forth over gleevic finally a NO they had removed it all. Go back to gastroenterologist Monday 9/5/25.

Hi I was diagnosed with GIST in 2023. I had surgery to remove the primary tumor and then started on imatnib / gleveck. I took the gleavic for 2 years I've been off of it for one year My scans have been NED no evidence of disease I'm waiting for results of my recent one from a few days ago. I am on Medicare advantage and have a dilemma regarding my current care provider no longer being on the plan I'm looking for a new provider with the specialist status for GIST . Please advise my policy changes on July 1 2026. I will be out of network at that time.

I am glad to forward the news I received from the ARNP at my cancer center that there is a GIST specialist at Mayo Jacksonville. His name is Stephen Attia. I hope this is helpful for you. Of course you will need to know what Insurance he takes and other things. Please keep us updated on your progress. J.

@tara58 I am told that Dr. Attia is a GIST specialist. I would like to confirm this as I was informed of his name by an ARNP at the Moffitt Cancer center in Tampa Florida. Given the date of the previous post I hope you are doing well.
