Anyone used prolia?
I am 82. Terrible bone density. Prolia is expensive. Anyone been told how many injections make a difference?
Am questioning if it is worth the money.

Can you take an anabolic bone medication.....tymlos, forteo or evenity?
.
@mkoch, the independents are a such a loss. The practice where I see the endocrinologist was just purchased by the large and growing hospital complex. I hope they grant the exemption, it seems like they will.
@gravity3 cannot take any of the bisphosphonates because of gerd. No Evenity because of blood pressure, cardio concerns.

Would strongly suggest having a dental exam prior to using Prolia, as I'm sure you have been told. After my third Prolia, found I needed a tooth extraction and root canal. Root canal done but extraction is on hold for several more months. Don't think I will use Prolia again for this reason.
@macleod4
What will you follow the Prolia with?
@macleod4 yes, am doing so tomorrow before I see my rheumatologist next week. I have many concerns regarding other health issues, medications. Not being able to stop it once I start. I had a bad reaction to reclast last summer and I have some PTSD about this and was anxious then bc of my immune system. And I was right, but they don't listen, they just have their own agenda and too many patients.
Yes, I've been on Prolia, since 2024, now had 5 injections, advised to stay on it for 10 years. Feel fine on it. Only side effects so far are thinning hair & weight gain. I'm not happy with these, but feel it is the price I have to pay to protect my bones from further painful fractures. I live in England where Prolia is available on our NHS.
I am 76 years old and I’ve been on Prolia for ten years. Excellent improvement in bone density without a single side effect! I do not want to stop, but docs say I must. I’m very afraid of ReClast side effects but that seems the preferred next treatment. Anyone been through this transitioning process?

You might go to the top of the page to the search box and type in reclast. There is an abundance of experience and also ways to prepare for the reclast infusion if that is the path you choose.
