Are there any Tymlos users who have NOT gained waist fat?

Since starting Tymlos in March of 2026, I have been dealing with abdominal bloating on a regular basis, along with increased belly fat. It would be very interesting for everyone to reply to get an idea if we are the minority or majority.

@cathyf31 I'm 9 months on Tymlos, weigh 109 lbs and look as if I'm 6 months pregnant! I was a size 4 but now can' barely fit into a size 6. It's all on my tummy and waistline. Never had much of a tummy before Tymlos but now I sure do at age 77. Can't do the needed exercise thanks to a badly damaged spine and neck. I hope this disappears once off Tymlos. I've read comments from some people that claim it hasn't gone away for them.

@willowmena, I also gained weight all in the belly. I've been off Tymlos for 4 months and still have the fat. I'm still hoping to lose it.

@drsuefowler Now that you are off Tymlos, have you followed up with anything to retain your bone gains? Any change to the tummy fat? I am only in month 11 but thinking ahead.

@gowalking Counting on it!!! DEXA at the end of August (5 months on Tymlos by then) to see if all the painful side effects and cost are worth it....half-dose. Grrr.

@cathyf31 Please let us know what your DEXA scores are- before the tymlos and after. Good luck!

@willowmena, I have been off Tymlos now for 7 months. I am following up with 25mcg of Climara, an estrogen patch. I am 75 so at first my doctor's were against it. I had to go to a functional Dr who originally prescribed 14 mcg Menostar. I was on the lower dose with half a dose of Tymlos for 5 months before increasing the estrogen when I stopped Tymlos. Unfortunately, I still have the belly fat.

@roseincalifornia Will do. I will start a new thread, with a title something like "DEXA results after 5 months on 1/2-dose of Tymlos. My scan is August 25th. I am also repeating my P1NP and CTX the week before the scan.

@drsuefowler Thank you for the update. Belly fat is the toughest area to work on. Maybe some yoga or isometrics. Like many others in our situation, I am afraid to engage in any exercise that puts stress on my spine, but exercise of some kind is likely the only way to rid ourselves of the belly fat. As for the estrogen, yesterday I conferred with my gyn who gave estrogen a bold thumbs down. She said is carries too much risk vs. reward. My endo feels the same. Both are smart, caring women but both practice conventional medicine. I know only a functional doctor will consider prescribing even a low dose estrogen patch.

I have been on Tymlos for 13 months and have gained about 7 lbs all in my belly which is very uncomfortable. However, the pro is that my BTM and dexa show improvement so I will continue the Tymlos. Has anyone changed injecting in the thigh versus the belly with good results and possibly reducing the belly fat?
