I’ve had 2 TKR since 2023 last one was in 2024. Why am I still in pain

2 ACL’s 1981 and 1992, a partial replacement in 2000. TKR 2023 and another in 2024 due to shift in lower portion of replacement. I’m still in pain 80% of the time and my knee bends about 90 degrees. My Dr said he has done all he can do. What are some options for me to look at.

Have you consulted any other orthopedic surgeons?

I have also had 2 TKR Ablation and MUY. Flex maybe 75. No real pain but take 2 IBP& tramadol daily. My problem is excessive scar tissue around prothesis.

I had a TLKR about 1 1/2 years ago and it is still sensitive. I have a bike, like in rehab, but not as fancy. It does help my knee flexibility but it feels like there’s a tight band around my knee. I don’t know if that’s normal.

Where are you?

Probably the best choice for you is Florida if you can handle the distance. The Hospital for Special Surgery has a branch in Palm Beach and one of the surgeons there did the partial for Lindsey Vonn (Dr. Roche). The other alternative is the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.
Both of these alternatives have superb surgeons.

Hi. I had Right TKR in April 2024 and still have issues, especially with "The Band". I was told it could take 6 months for it to stop, then 1 year, then 18 months and I still have it. Also have discomfort all the time. I had Manipulation 2 months after TKR and have right glut/buttock pain all the time. I stretch my knee everyday and was everyday. The Surgeons finally said I should get another opinion. Well I finally did & the the New Ortho Dr said he feels it is scar tissue and he wants to do arthroscopy to go in and clean it out. I am not in a hurry to have anyone touch my knee but wanted to ask if anyone else had the arthroscopy to clear out scar tissue. Would love to hear your results. Thank you. Wish you a pain free day.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I pray arthroscopy is not painful. I’ve started riding my recumbent bike again. I didn’t realize this would be a lifelong issue. Good luck with the procedure.
