Tapering off mirtazapine

@marz560 Part of the hangover is because of the low dose. With mirtazipine the lower the dose the more the sleep effect. It works backwards from other medications for sleep issues. I would get a doctor’s opinion.

@joetex I am meeting with her Friday morning.. I think that’s part of what I dislike about this medication.. she started me at a higher dose and the hangover was worse than what I’m experiencing at 7.5 yes, it’s addressed my insomnia, but it’s not worth how much of my daytime routine has been affected by it. I want off asap and am hoping she has other medications options for me to explore.. thanks

I am on my second week of coming off mirtazapine. It is true the lower the dose the more drowsy it makes you feel. I was on 15 mgs. for 3 months. I’m now on 7.5 mgs. for 1 week. I will stay at 7.5 for 1 more week then stop. It was added on to my Clomipramine for sleep. It did help. I have gained weight. It makes me so hungry 😋
