@cindiwass This is an old thread but I will still give you my experience.
I also have an inguinal hernia and surgery is scheduled for Friday.
What you experienced may be what I did - severe gastritis, a burning sensation in the whole stomach and upper intestinal area.
I don't know why they are related but apparently they are.

@adamgb - How are you feeling as you approach your surgery tomorrow for your inguinal hernia?

@cindiwass - did you end up having an operation for your hernia? If so, how did it go? Have you learned whether something else was going on in your stomach?

@adamgb Yes, thank you. The surgery did not take long -- I have healed from that but I notice I have to be careful about stretching or pulling myself up from a prone position. However in general I am fine with that problem. I hope all goes well with you. I am sure it will.
