While I’m not old, 27, I can understand what you’re going through. I hurt my neck a couple months ago, and have been in pain that I didn’t even know existed until this point. I lost my business from not being able to work, haven’t seen any friends in 3 months from not feeling well enough to do anything. I have amazing parents but I know they are at a loss of what to do and I’m sure me complaining about being in pain is hard on them too. I feel a sadness that is all encompassing. Recently the pain has turned into upper neck spasms that radiate up into my head and face and cause the worst possible tension heache and constant throbbing head pressure. I don’t know how much of this recent pain I can endure, I have thought of moving on from this life a couple times but can’t do that to my parents and family , my mom would be devastated and I can’t do that to her. I feel hopeless and like the pain isn’t going to let up.

@katieallen1991 welcome to a great group for advice ,sharing and help can you tell us how you hurt your neck?Linda

I got a massage on my birthday, the lady had no clue what she was doing and pushed my my neck way to hard. The pain has been terrible but durable up until recently when it shifted into my upper neck and head

@katieallen1991 have you had ,xrays?seen a Dr.?if nothing is out of place I would suggest see a chiropractor it could be muscles or pinched nerve ,most this will take xrays on a new patient let me know your results I feel terrible you had to give up your business for this.Have you done anything for it like heat to neck or Ice usually either one will help

Ya I’ve gotten xrays, MRIs and a CAT scan, nobody can really say what is wrong with it:(. I have been seeing a chiropractor, and hoping this new head pressure/upper neck spasms will calm down and the injury will return to how it was. Neither ice or heat make it feel better.

That's too bad. I get a massage every other week. I suffer no ill-effects from it except for giant hickeys on my back from getting cupped. My masseuse is skilled and very attentive to my needs in the needs of my body. After the massage I feel about as good as I'm going to feel for the next two weeks. For several days after the massage I enjoy less pain than I usually do. if you're not used to getting massages your masseuse needs to start out being gentle and work up the pressure in the amount of manipulation they do as you go from massage to massage. you will experience some pain after your first massage if you've never had one before especially if you're old like I am. talk to your friends and get a masseuse that's worked on other people your age with similar conditions. If you have a lot of back pain it's wise to tell your masseuse to avoid your spine, at least that's what my doctor told me.

@katieallen1991 wow ,well o.k. Have you seen a rheumatologist or neurologist ?

I had a similar experience with a physical therapist. She put way too much pressure on a certain part of my neck. She caused so much pain, that lasted for days or weeks. Never had PT again after that.

@edda, You may want to investigate some form of pain release massage therapy. I see only Expert- level myofascial release massage therapists. They move slowly and in a comforting way to push the pain out. The benefits last about 2 days at first....I am now getting more relief for a longer period. They also want to make sure your body is totally in alignment....because everything is so interconnected, it may be that the pain in your knee is really caused by something going on in your hip. They help you learn to walk better, sit better and overall, take better care of your body.
