Should I tell my children that I’m having surgery?
Five days before surgery and I think the hardest thing now is whether I’m going to tell my child that I’m going in for prostate surgery. She lives out of state, and I just visited her and my grandchildren. She lost her mother who was very close to her about five years ago from cancer. Anyone have any suggestions?

Let us know if you are having that dizzy feeling from acetaminophen.
The stronger drugs you were referring to can do that for sure. They are narcotics and they can have many side effects. Constipation is the one I found the worst.

2 ReactionsI don't think anyone can give you any heartfelt advice. We don't know your situation like you do. I do know this that since her mother recently passed away recently she has gained more understanding of how to deal with a lose of someone close to her. I have to say there's no right or wrong of Dealing with sensitive issue; but I think either way she wouldn't love you any less.
@jeffmarc I had no constipation, but I am having slight calf pain in the middle upper left part of the calf for about the last three hours. I started walking around, but there is still slight calf pain and minimal swelling compared to my right leg.
@jeffmarc I don’t know if you got my last message, but I’ve had some calf pain on the left leg now I’m laying back waiting for my team to instruct me on what to do.

Have you tried pulling your toes back on that foot? Straighten your leg and pull your toes back and see if that’ll stop pain in your calf.
That works if you feel the muscle tightening up.
I get that sometimes they have to be careful. I don’t let my toes to be pushed down in bed.
If you are an ADT that can cause joint pain. I’m not sure exactly which type of pain you’re getting.
Good morning, Jeff.
Everything worked out fine. I ended up spending about four hours at the hospital last night after one of the members of my care team suggested that I come in just to be safe. I had an ultrasound performed on my calf, and thankfully everything checked out well.
Thank you again for your advice and concern. I really appreciate it.
Bill
