Have neuropathy: Trouble disconnecting BARD night bag
I have chemo-induced neuropathy & I am really struggling to pull the connector to my urostomy pouch off every morning. For me it's strength & getting my fingers around the tubes to disconnect. If anyone has suggestions, I would be very appreciative. Thank you

@cromme50 Hollister also makes a night drainage bag. The part number is 9839. I would suggest reaching out to Hollister to see if a connector adapter is needed and to get a sample.

Wow, Susan, i will absolutely reach out to Hollister. Thank you so very much!
@susanf8 Thank you mucho, Susan! I just ordered a sample, looking forward to seeing how they attach. The fact I use Hollister 8414 as the pouch should make them compatible.
BTW, I love your posts! You are always so helpful and positive but also very objective and practical. Thank you for being here "in the pit" with us!

3 Reactions@cromme50 I'm so glad it's helpful! I've been on IBD and Ostomy support forums since the mid 1990s (can't believe it has been that long). Sometimes I've need support, sometimes I can offer it.
I've always been grateful to the people who helped me out in 1987 when I first had an ostomy. The Internet really changed things.
Let us know how the drainage bag works out?
@susanf8 @bonnyt
I definitely will let you know if Hollister 9839 hooks up without an extra connector and how easy/difficult it is to disconnect. Between myself and bonnyt, we should have a "verdict"

1 ReactionAfter having chemo and infusions, I wish the night bag had twist-click attachments like drip lines do.
See a picture of the twisting connectors here:

I requested a sample of Hollister 9839 overnight bag and got crickets. My PCP was alerted that a request for prescription would come from Hollister and so far no request has come through. Anybody else requested this sample and had better luck/response/action from Hollister?
I finally received the sample of the overnight bag Hollister 9839. Unfortunately it still requires the adapter.
Still hard to twist with arthritic hands or tremors.
Update - I have received a Coloplast night bag that matches my Coloplast pouch so it does not require an adapter. I find their night bag is flimsy as compared to the Bard night bag. My OT showed me to wrap the adapter tip and the tubing with Coban wrap which makes the tubing larger so I can grab it better. This is working very well for me.
