Suspicious pea sized bump under skin on wrist that immovable and hard

Hi, I’m not sure where to post my question at on here but I was trying to do some research on my own and I couldn’t find anything in that really matched my description but anyways I woke up this morning and I noticed a P sized bump on my wrist inner side. It hurts a tiny bit only if I press down on it and it doesn’t seem to move whatsoever even when I press down on it and try to move it back-and-forth with my nail. It seems like it’s kind of fixed in the location, it’s very very hard, kinda like a bone, but I don’t believe it’s any kind of sister or anything because I’ve had stuff like that in the past that had fluid in it, this isn’t anything like that, though that’s why I’m posting this because I’ve never experienced a bump that felt like this. I’ll post a pic on here for you to look at, but I don’t know if it’ll be much help because you can barely see it but if you look really good in the middle of my wrist, you can see a little raised area.but I’m not experiencing any symptoms. The only thing I noticed is that if I press on it a little hard it kinda hurts, but it’s not the kind of pain like if you push on a fluid field bump that’s filled with infection. It’s nothing like that and there’s no movement at all and it is as hard as a bone. It is also round almost like a perfect circle the size of a P but if anybody knows what this could be it’s probably harmless but I just wanna be on the safe side, but I’m gonna make an appointment with my doctor, but I’m not gonna be able to get in there for like a month or two but anyways, thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Hi there. Yours is exactly like mine. My PCP said its a ganglia. When I was at Mayo Rochester a few months later for a coil embolization thru my femoral vein and wrist vein, to divert blood supply away from tumor on my carotid neck artery before tumor resection, I asked them about it, as it was quite tender back then and the driver they put into my wrist vein was very close to the ganglia. They concurred w my PCP that it was a ganglia (a cyst). Since then, Ive learned that these happen sometimes due to carpal tunnel issues related to ulnar nerve pain and thyroid issues.
I wanted to let you know, no stress..you seemed quite worried. It can be removed by a hand surgeon if you want it gone.

I’ve had numerous ganglion cysts. I had one removed because it really hurt. It was pressing on a nerve. The result was good.

Then I had another cyst pop up nearby. But it’s not pressing on the nerve so I try to ignore it. The cyst hurts on occasion but not a big deal.

Sometimes a dr can drain the cyst. But they fill up with fluid again.

My mother had these types of cysts too.

Ganglion cyst. Often resolves on its own. Takes awhile though

I’ve had one ganglion cyst on each wrist, both surgically removed, about 25 years apart. I dealt with them for several years, and they just started to get in the way and being sore a lot. I was glad I had them removed.
Mine would not go away on their own, but I don’t think they are dangerous, more of an annoyance from what I understand. Both of mine just suddenly showed up one day, but like I said, several years apart, on opposite wrists, but in the exact same spot. I had mine done a long time ago, so it’s probably easier now, maybe newer surgical techniques. One surgery was quite easy. The second one took more time because the cyst actually grew tentacles that were tricky to detangle, having wrapped around veins and cartilage. But I do think that was unusual. I’m just happy to have had them removed. Best wishes!
