@jakedduck1 Jake, are you going to check things out with your doctor regarding your neuropathy getting so bad? I hope you will. X0 Laurie
Hi @jakedduck1 I am not an expert as a neurologist would be on the subject but I believe there are stages of neuropathy. Our nerves are our sensors for pain so if our nerves don’t work properly, we would experience numbness and not feel pain. My belief is the neuropathy has progressed to a worse stage. Regardless of the stage of neuropathy, exercise can help to keep it from progressing by encouraging neurogenesis Seems like exercise helps with our health in so many ways. Can’t get away from it. A healthy diet included would give our body the proper fuel and nutrition it needs to combat whatever ailment. Kind of giving our body a push start. Sorry, take caution with your five food groups. Nothing wrong with having a treat now and then. No big portions though. Indulging in small amounts is perfectly fine for me. Toni
@jakedduck1 and @artist01, I am so sorry both of you are having such difficulties! Next time I begin to whine over some mild discomfort, I'll think of both of you and hush! Thank you both for being so upbeat and positive despite these growing challenges.
Hi Jake, I am new to the group and still trying to find my way around. Overnight, literally I got out of bed and the pain in my foot was horrible and never stopped for one month. My daughters wedding a month later and then I woke u, and within 10 days the numbness move all the way up from my calves, thighs, privates, belly and then the lips. Every am it was moving.
@jakedduck1. Dang neuropathy! Jake, I'm so sorry you going through that.
Mine was that bad too, when I was on mega-prednisone for 1 1/2 years, from June, 2019 to November, 2020. Numb right up to my waist. Now, it's gone to pain and numbness up to my knees, with numb toes. It isn't too bad during the day, but worse after dinner, really bad in the evening, and most of the night. Hard to get to sleep, and stay asleep. Always get up by 4:00 a.m.
I've been doing trials with carbs, because my neuropathy gets so bad after dinner. That's what it turned out to be! Eureka! I tried to cut most carbs out of my diet and that definitely helped. But, my blood glucose kept plummeting so I kept trying to remedy that. Hopeless though, living in a seniors' residence with set meal choices. Lots of pasta, bread, rice, potatoes. So, I'm back eating carbs and suffering from this dang neuropathy. It helps somewhat to walk so I can't wait for the weather to smarten up! Under all this manure, there must be a PONY somewhere!! Lol
