The hospital kept me on steroids and pain medications, not once did Ortho come to see me. I went home with in home nurse, pt and ot care.i had a cortisone injection on June 1st. I did get some relief, however, from my knee to my 2nd toe I'm experiencing the numbness and burning, especially on the outer portion of my leg. I can walk but not very far, before that pain fires up in the outer hip. Every morning when I wake I'm discouraged by the pain still there. It's been 1 month of this pain. While I'm taking the small accomplishments as a good sign, I'm still very discouraged by this struggle. I'm seeing the spine Dr. On Monday, he is going to do a nerve test. Has anyone had to have 2 injections, if the first one didn't do the job? My spine Dr. Said the nerve pain is the last to heal and it takes time. But what about the pain after walking? I'm hoping someone here has something to offer, because I'm feeling like I'm going to be stuck living my life like this. I am going to see a surgeon out in Boston, but no appt. Yet. I'm doing PT exercises every day to build strength, muscle atrophy in my legs from this , also an issue , so I'm doing my exercises to gain back strength in both legs.
Sorry for the long post. I'm feeling lost in this situation I am in.
@I too have bee battleing this exact issue to the point where after 45 yrs I had to go on disability. My pain started as yours from hrs of sitting in my truck to the point where I can walk across my living room but thats it.I had done injections but did nt really help.Heres the best part of the sciatica is that it has aggrivated my nerves to the point i now live with dabilitating poly neuropathy.Tried all of big pharmas soothing fixes, but no more releif than than a really bad sleep. This has now become a very big issue that if you sit in a hard chair for an evening meal, you will get the worst zing in your butt cheeks and to stand would be impossiblebar0961
