AUS and weightlifting
I had RP in 2015 with no leakage until stricture surgery in 2024. Since then 100%. I have worn a clamp for 2 years but, surgeon now suggests AUS. My problem is that I lift quite heavy around 300 lbs. and leak. My surgeon says that I can continue to lift but, what I have read is lifting heavy will blow out the AUS and cause it to fail and/or permanently damage the urethra. Anyone else in this boat ?

ANY surgery needs time to heal before you can resume lifting weights; you will cause damage.
Especially in something as delicate as an AUS, which has to heal for 6 weeks before it is even activated, I would think you’d need another 6 weeks after that before you can resume lifting.
Of course, you will have to slowly work up to that old 300 lb area but this is what it takes to be continent, right?
Would be a shame to go thru all that and then ruin it all working out!

1 ReactionMy surgeon told me if my stricture surgery failed, or ever needed repair, the AUS would have to be removed and replaced — a complication.
I’ve commented before on my choice of forgoing stricture surgery and the AUS and settling on the clamp (worn 18 hours a day) which like you, causes no compromises to QOL, including the strain of weight lifting to failure. I hope the decision you make works out well for you.
