Let me know what you think! Blood in stool

Hi, I’m 24 years old female,

I have been having blood in my stool for 4-5 years. When I really took it serious was on deployment in 2021. I was experiencing extreme diarrhea and with diarrhea I had blood in my stool. Not just a small amount but dripping blood. The blood would drip out almost like I was peeing except it was blood. I was sent home early from that deployment to get a colonoscopy and they told me it was just internal hemorrhoids and sent me off. No treatment or nothing. From the day I got my colonoscopy I have been bleeding ever since, on and off. Everytime I bleed it last for a few weeks and it’s a lot of blood, in my stool and dripping out, toilet paper covered in blood and blood staining my underwear. I experience abdominal pain that feels like closest to menstrual cramps but not when im menstruating its all the time I get the stabbing pains in my abdomen.

Yesterday I want to the er for horrible stomach pains which I believe turned out to be trapped air but the reason I went was because I had really bad diarrhea with blood clots.

They did a rectal exam and said that I could just be internal hemorrhoids but since I am having other symptoms that I should get another colonoscopy.

My question is could this just be internal hemorrhoids? Or could it be something else?

I almost never have normal stool, sometimes they’re skinny, most of the time they’re loose.

I experience abdominal pain, fatigue, constipation and diarrhea.

Oh, my gosh, Lex. You’ve really been having a time with your digestive plumbing! Quite frankly, I’d really suggest you have a consultation with a gastroenterologist soon. This may just be hemorrhoids as suggested at the ER but there’s no way to know for sure without a thorough exam.
Having this much rectal bleeding is not normal under any circumstance. And if you’re also having other symptoms such as diarrhea and clotting this should be evaluated. There are conditions such as Crohn’s disease, Irritable bowel syndrome or even colorectal cancer that needs to be ruled out. There may be dietary changes to be made for intestinal healing.

If you need a referral to a specialist, please contact your Primary Care Provider to get the referral. You’ll feel much more reassured when you have a gastroenterologist, a specialist in this area, evaluate what’s going on. Will you consider that please?

Lex, definitely another colonoscopy. It could be hemorrhoids, and usually is, if the blood is bright red--but not always. Red blood is undigested blood so it wouldn't likely be from higher up in the digestive tract. You can have hemorrhoids treated. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hemorrhoids/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20360280 But it is best to try and fix any dietary consideration.
Sometimes people take a fiber pill every day. But they'd have to take 20 to 40 pills. Dehydration can be causative. But there may be underlying medical conditions neurological, endocrine, metabolic issues beyond diet, that require medical investigation.
I think, anyway, best wishes

I would go to a hemorrhoids specialist to see if they can cauterize your hemorrhoids to stop the bleeding. that much bleeding can't be good for your iron levels. once they stop the bleeding then maybe your system can start to heal.

It seems to me they should offer to treat your hemorrhoids. They can be surgically removed. The skinny stools can be caused by the hemorrhoids but also might have another cause. You might benefit from an anti-inflammatory diet and certainly no alcohol as it is like battery acid in an inflamed gut. Do a search on-line for foods to heal gut inflammation and develop a diet to help yourself heal.
Please be an advocate for yourself as long term inflammation can lead to cancer.

Have they done any stool testing? I had diarrhea for 5 months (12-14 times, all day & night). They contributed it to radiation damage. After I finally got my colonoscopy done (it took 5 months because they were book), & it was read as normal, they did stool tests. Turns out I had E.coli, for 5 months! I’ve also gotten C-diff when I wasn’t sick. Both include bloody stools.
