I say if docs refuse to offer/ prescribe some tests that you feel you need to make decisions for yourself, go to an out of network lab such as Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp for example and pay cash. The tests seem to be reasonably priced. Pick and choose the one/two that you feel your doc won't order. Best!
