When to have CTX or NTx

Posted by aspirecreative @aspirecreative, May 31 1:56pm

I have finished a year of Evenity, took at 6 week break, and had my first Reclast in May. My DEXA did show improvement in spine (15%), but not in hip or femur. I had thought I should have had a CTX/NTX after the Evenity, but my endo said not needed. Is that what others have experienced?
Prior to starting Evenity, I took 4 years of Fossomax, with small DEXA gain after the first 2 years, and loss after the next 2years. They did an NTx then and switched me to Evenity. I have not had one since. I am curious to know if others had one in a situation like mine, and if so what useful info did it provide? If I have one, will it indicate if the Reclast is working? I am wondering b/c the Fossomax had stopped working for me. Thank you.

I say if docs refuse to offer/ prescribe some tests that you feel you need to make decisions for yourself, go to an out of network lab such as Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp for example and pay cash. The tests seem to be reasonably priced. Pick and choose the one/two that you feel your doc won't order. Best!

@laren3 I did this also. Best prices are at Jason Health as I learned on this forum. I have several posts on this elsewhere with details. It is hard to find the P1NP test in the Jason Health search, as they only use the full name. Here is a link for example:
