That is such a relief for your husband. The relief he must feel is overwhelming.

The doctors talked about water pills but my husband also gets dehydrated. They weren't sure how to achieve a balance and at the hospital, they did not give him fluids. His pee turned tea-color.

Now that we're back home and he's getting his TPN and 500 ml of hydration as well, his kidneys are back to normal. They were saying the urine color was from the cancer in his liver, potentially, but they were wrong about that. He was just so dehydrated...

Yes, being an advocate is a full-time, difficult job. My husband has really stepped up when it comes to saying NO, which I respect.

I do wonder if there is a balance where he takes water pills to get out what's in there, while still receiving the hydration, with the timing being the critical piece.

@george544, that is a fine balance to have to navigate between swelling and dehydration. How are your husband's legs now. What helped?
