Here is my experience with painful wrist-hand. For years my wrist ached. Every year it got worse. Finally went to doc. Severe arthritis caused by bones rotating within. Then I realized 40 years before that I had bad hand sprain, hurt like hell but toughed it out. Then it started getting worse. That is when I went to the Doc. Doc said I need either a PRC or 4 corner fusion. Neither one sounded good to me so I held off repairs. Then I read about a surgeon that helped pioneer a new type of surgery. I went to him (Tyson Cobb MD) in Quad Cities area. His procedure worked tremendously! Basically he goes in there and grinds out the arthritis and is replaced (hopefully) by fibrocartilage. It worked for me. What happened was that I tore a ligament in that wrist years ago and it never healed together. Instead it allowed several bones in my hand/wrist rotate upon each other and over many years it created massive, painful arthritis. It was called SLAC wrist. (scapho-lunate advanced collapse.) Dr Cobb's procedure sure worked for me!
