Been going to Mayo Jacksonville since 2006. When I first came they only had one building (Davis), no hospital, no other buildings. Since then hospital was built and over the years expanded up and up. Probably a dozen special treatment buildings built. They added several years ago Community Care, and Primary Care. Several restaurants and/or quick order food bistros along with Starbucks.
When waiting for my next appointment I walk the campus as they have trails around the lakes and campus.
I love going to Mayo Jacksonville. I get excellent treatment. I love their portal where I can send and receive messages. When you have labs done your doctor will have results within a couple of hours and they are sent to you via portal.
If I have any complaints is parking. So many coming now that during prime hours hard to find a parking space. Even the parking garage (which they charge for) is usually pack and you wind up at top of garage.
But I little nuisance to be at such an outstanding medical institutions. If you have never been you will be astonished at the campus. It is huge and just beautiful. Lakes, water fountains, ducks in the lakes, sitting areas, walking areas, all among beautiful landscaping. It's got to be several hundred acres.
Recently was hospitalized for 5 days after multiple ICD shocks and was admitted to the new cardiology rooms. The room was huge. The T.V. was so big it took up one wall. To the right of T.V. was digital screen of who your care givers where and pertinent information for you the patient. I called the nurse one time as I felt a humming and could not find out what it was. She said "oh I forgot that is your massage bed motor, do you want it off or higher."
The view was beautiful. I would roll my lounge chair over to window and look outside for hours. I had a view of the lakes and water fountains. I heard some of the nurses say the new rooms are the best they have ever seen anywhere.
Yes been an exerciser all my life. Was avid scuba diver and tennis player until ICD/Pacemaker. And for many years ran 10k races, and for about 10 years did Sprint Triathlons. I exercise for at least 1 hour each day but I find it enjoyable and something I look forward too and depressed if I don't get water aerobics, bike ride or walk. Was swimming twice a week for a mile but my doctors after the shocks asked me to put that off for awhile.
Sorry so long. I have never been know for brevity MCC posts.
