Anyone prescribed antibiotics for pouchitis?
I have been prescribed Vancomycin for my severe pouchitis. I don't see much mentioned about it like Cipro or Flagyl. Wondering about any issues with it? I was on Cipro, Flagyl & azathioprine for as long as I can remember (probably 15 years or so) needless to say I have quite a few of the side affects from that, so I'm just curious on this one. At this point I just want something to get it under control as I have had nocturnal incontinence for about 2-1/2 years. Thanks for any input.

@susanf8 eventually I'm thinking that will happen. I'm hoping to get the nocturnal leakage under control or else may have to think seriously about some type of surgery or ileostomy.

1 ReactionI recently was prescribed Rifaximin which is an antibiotic primarily used as maintenance therapy for chronic, antibiotic-dependent pouchitis. I tolerated it well and it cleared up my pouchitis. I was relieved since I had a bad reaction to both Cipro and Flagyl. The medication however is quite expensive.
