For the cervical spine you mean? The first person who thought it was urgent was a doctor in Boston what other doctors said they didn't think it was urgent since I didn't have any symptoms in my hands or other urgent symptoms like incontinence and losing my balance. I am having slight balance problems so they said it could wait. I did see a doctor at the Mayo clinic this past week, Dr Mel helgeson who also said it wasn't urgent but he thought in the next few years I would need my cervical spine to have a very large surgery to prevent me from having to be in a wheelchair. I haven't spoken with anyone at HSS but I've been mostly interviewing surgeons about my lumbar spine symptoms which are just throbbing pain in my legs after walking which makes life kind of difficult. I've been taking oxycodone for it for 2 years. I'd like to hear more about your symptoms and why they said you would be paralyzed. I'm assuming they're in your cervical spine? I can't remember the guy's name in Boston at this moment because I didn't like his answer and I think is slightly unethical to say I need urgent neck surgery without the major symptoms of spinal cord compression. But please tell me what your symptoms were if you don't mind sharing. Do you live in New York city? Definitely like to talk to you if you do live in the New York area.

@annie1 thanks for responding. I am trying to determine which route to go. I only live in NYC for the summer months. If you want to talk, please private message me on this site.

@annie1 hi,
Most of my symptoms are in my hands, pinkie, thumbs down to wrists. Hand loosing flexibility and closing up. Hurts when I move the my fingers. I’m trying to decide if I should have Laminoplasty or w/ Fuzion posterior C2- T1
