@gunshy ..I did it on my own and it was tough at my age etc. so I would suggest decreasing it slowly ( took me over a year plus) and have a pharmacist, or dr or nurse practitoner or maybe social worker support and guide ... ) i went off for several reasons... my eye pressure; when I had no dr i was treated like a drug seeker trying to get prescription renewals as even drs on zoom via clinics weere not allwoed to prescribe it in Ontario cA... and i wil tell you that the NP giving me prescriptions after i went off didnt even ask if i was still taking them so i got a few more prescriptions and dint take any and I have them in a safe place for about a year now .. jsut in case ! Might seem odd but I had a reason to do it this way but it was very very hard as i also got myself off Zoloft but did that cold turkey twice and again, I suffered a lot.. as i said before: was it worth it? I dont know. J.

@gunshy
Slowly, very slowly. I took
18 mg for seizures (almost the max recommended daily amt.)
It took me 2 years but only had very slight symptoms at the very end of my taper that were easily resolved.

@gunshy I became addicted to Xanax, which is a similar drug. I discovered a British psychiatrist famous for successfully weaning her clients of Benzos by slowly replacing them with Valium, also a Benzo but easier to come off of. I told my doctor of this and that's what I was able to do over about 6 months.
