@grannytrucker Hi Granny trucker - I read your message and you sure have lots to deal with in regard to your pain. My main pain in my body now is the peripheral neuropathy and the lower lumbar spine stenosis. With the neuropathy I have the pain in my legs and feet. PN is such a painful and horrible disease. The most painful pain for me is the stenosis pain (burning pain) in my lower back. The way I try to explain the pain to my neuro doctor is that it feels like someone could be holding a burning match and taking the burning match from one side of my hip area to the other side of my hip area. So, for my pain now, my neuro pain doctor has me on the Buprenorphine patch (7.5 mg) and there are 4 patches in a box. The Buprenorphine patch is very expensive even with the insurance. Search for the Goodrx coupons for buprenorphine patch. The 7.5 mg patch does take the EDGE OFF of the pain. My neuro doctor is now in the process of trying to get the approval of my insurance for a surgically implanted PAIN PUMP as I have chronic pain as the result from 3 back surgeries and other issues. I'm waiting to hear from my doctor in regard to an approval. I sure do hope that you can get some pain relief soon. Would you mind if I prayed for you in regard to the pain that you are having?

Reading about others pain and challenges makes me feel like a "piker." I have spinal stenosis and PMS. I take prednisone 5Mg every other day. After my operation 3 years ago, I tried going off Tramadol. I gave up. My granddaughter is a care aide and encouraged me to stay on it. i have a combination of Tramadol and acetomenophen.(?). I got a pamphlet when i left the hospital after my operation but with very little explanation. The surgeon's secretary told me that he was so busy operating that he didn't have time to consult with me. my family doctor is quite good. The bottom line is you have to take control of your own medications. I go to a chiropractor, a acupuncturist who combines acupuncture with lazer treatment that works quite well.

I just adopted a Pomeranian puppy! She doesn't fit my criteria for adopting a dog except for one. She needed a new home. she's not a rescue (she rescued me from depression). She's not non-shedding. She's not 2 to 3 years old! She's working on her potty habits.

PetSmart had a special on puppy training classes. We're taking them! I'm not sure who is learning the most. Her or me? The next time I visit my family doctor, I'm going to tuck her in a BIG shopping bag and show him what an "anti-depressant looks like." All 7.6 lbs tucked into a ball of white fur. My Great grandson was bigger when he was born.

I've developed the philosophy, "if you don't move. You don't move."

There are times I'm in absolute agony. It usually goes away. I remind myself that compared to others, I'm lucky.

You have to just keep moving no matter how much and become your best advocate. I'm off to walk Miss Molly before dinner. We don't go that far. Again, my philosophy is a short walk is better than no walk.

Hi, have only been on this site for a little over a week. Have a hard time maneuvering around.
Have come to the conclusion, after reading some of the posts, that I am doing better than most. And bless your heart, you have a lot going on too!
My post you read was responding to @gid and sadly they have some serious problems. We had similar problems and I didn't like the care they were getting. Was glad to hear them say they were going to take charge of their care! We all need to do that.
I think we can all learn from each other in this forum.
I appreciate your tip on the coupons. Definitely someone can try that. I do have excellent insurance with Medicare and my Supplemental. Thankfully, I don't pay much for prescriptions either.
I feel absolutely nothing from the 10mcg patch. Are you using a 7.5 milligram patch or a 7.5mcg? I'll be on the 10mcg for three more weeks. Ugh!
I will take all the prayers I can get. We can pray for each other.

Has anyone tried buprenorphine for their chronic pain ? My daughter just began using 10 mg patches . She was on 5 mg , but it didn't do anything , so the doctor upped the dosage to 10 mg . I would appreciate any feedback about this medication .

I am seeing posts from people who are having good results with the buprenorphine patches. Additionally, there are some benefits to using it verses opioids. Think it is wait and see, as far as the dosage goes. Hope it helps her.

Something you and your new doggie to watch together.
"Inside the Mind of a Dog" on Netflix
"Lucky Dog" with Brandon McMillan on Roku (He trains shelter dogs & is amazing)
If you're interested in learning a bit about Veterinary medicine, you can always watch:
"The Incredible Dr. Pol. " I watch it on Prime or live on a couple different app's.
Yes, move it, or lose it!
P.S. I would look for information about prednisone. It is a good medicine. But I would want to know what the long-term use, side effects are.
Take care!

Right now, I'm checking out a website on Pomeranians. They are considered a "fashion accessory" in Australia. Little Molly is quite different from any other dog I've had. She's a little bundle of energy. It's quite interesting to watch her play with different toys. She tosses the knee bones down the stairs and then goes and gets them.

She escaped from the Little Dog Park a few weeks ago. I thought I'd never catch her. I'd just taken the leash off. She ran up the street to my car. She tried to get in. When she couldn't, she sat and waited for me! Relief! She takes flying leaps into my lap. Fortunately, she hasn't done it when I have coffee in my hand. I can see why her breeder said she would be perfect for a senior. It's like having a 3-year-old in the house. Except you can put Molly in a crate and leave her while you go shopping. You can't do that with a human and be considered a "good parent."

There's another dog show coming up on Canadian TV about rescuing dogs as well.

I've been watching "Unsolved Mysteries" lately. It featured two dogs and a cat that had saved a human from disaster.

Yesterday we went to see the movie, "Sheep Detectives." It was quite amusing. It's based on a German novel. I could see traces of "Rudolph the Reindeer, Bambi, and a few other animal stories" in it.

Hello. My name is Shannon. I am 67 year old female, retired school teacher due to disability, living at home with my husband and adult son who has autism and bipolar disorder. My qualifying disability for disability is "severe detrusor overactive bladder", but additionally I suffer with chronic pain. I'm told I have polyarthritis with my arthritis in my back, knees, hands, shoulders, and neck. My back and knees are worst. I have facet joint syndrome in the lumbar region of my back. I have also been diagnosed with DISH - diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, but my doctors don't seem concerned about it.
I can't take NSAIDS, and acetaminophen does not seem to help me. I had been taking pregabalin but recently stopped because it, and two other medications caused a greater falling risk and "fuzzy headedness". I'm introducing myself in regard to pain, but pain does not define me. I'm active in my faith, love the outdoors, make crafts such as artist books, jewelry, wreaths, etc., and love to read and write. I'm currently on a first draft of book that I'm presently calling, "Pain: A Conduit to God's Love".

Hi. My name is Elaine. I suffered from chronic pain for about 17 months. Bilateral hips and lumber spine. Many MRI’s, x-rays, multiple doctors later, I ended up having both of my hips replaced. I can walk again and look forward to trying out my legs in the pool this summer. Chronic pain is no joke. If you have not suffered from it you cannot understand the depression and anxiety that comes with it. I am sending good vibes to all of you here that suffer from chronic pain.

Hi everyone, I’m glad to have found this group. I’ve been dealing with chronic pain for quite a while now and like many people here I’m still trying to figure out the balance between managing symptoms, staying active and maintaining a normal life. Some days are manageable and some are much harder, but it helps knowing there are others who understand what living with chronic pain is actually like. I’m looking forward to learning from everyone’s experiences and hopefully supporting others along the way.
