@wire4can It certainly sounds like you are destined for a referral for more timely medical care for an aggressive cancer. I know the Urology teams are busy as we hear that at Mayo too, but delay in treatment is decreasing possibility of positive results. You must be so frustrated. Our medical system can be difficult to navigate and I fear that is will keep getting worse. What is the status of your kidney if the ureter was totally blocked? My husband went through stents and nephrostomy tubes to keep urine flowing during his battle with a scaarred ureter.

@sepdvm
It took secondcurologist two attempts to get through ureter. First attempt could not get guide wire or fr sheaths through so aborted that. Second attempt barely got through and obtained biopsy. Then he referred me backbto utmb/MD Anderson for treatment. I had beenbto UTMB/MD Anderson about 5 orv6 months prior but the doc actually gaslighted me and said he could not see wgy referral at that time from uro gynocologist who found atypucal cells from bladder washing.
So I wrnt yo nephrologist who could not gind anything stating my blood thinner was causing gross hematuria. Went to vascular doc who ran ct angiogram to check illiac stent and is was from vascular bleeding issue. Result on vascuar was not from vascular. In fact saw clear sign ureter and kidney pelvis had growth. Had appt with urologistcwho actually got a biopsy showing high grade urothelical carcunoma of ureter. Second referral backbto MD Anderson. So now the MD Anderson doc wanted own biopsy. Uses same lab so ok whatever...that biopsy was crushed as happens and too little tissue sample from.kidney pelvis, which was crushed as well. poor handling ? Hard to reach area in kidney pelvic. . No definitive result from that bungled biopsy. Then replaced a stent in ureter keeping open. Apparently they did a ct urogram to see if evidence of elsewhere...still no results on it as yet. Put another stent in and supposed to have removed on 27th May. Mind you it has been over 6 months with no treatment. Yes I am a bit upset because No one is providing anything as to what next and stent still in and have seen particulates in urine which makes me think seeding to bladder may be happening. So I wait. Cannot go far cuz need to urinate often. I asked doc why need for stent and he said makes easier for access. Easier for docs and harder on me. Even with bladder calming meds spasms are frequent. Trying to be patient but am loosing that at this point. Dr does not respond to messages and RN did stating he was fwd messages and will respond. Still waiting. To me is sloppy medicine at a renown cancer center. MD Anderson and UTMB parterned for this cancer center. I know am not only patient but my life is hanging in balance. The one biopsy urologist did here before sending me to MD Anderson UTMB (second time after 6 months prior) results stated rare highgrade urothelial carcinomea of right ureter. Think by time stent out on 27th may have spread even more. Doc did say not alot on this type as for info, and they go with bladder cancer info when advise on treatment. Same type cells. He also said may need to take kudney ureter and bladder cuff...I told him he best check other kudney ureter and bladder plus any other place may have migrated to before you think you are removing rt kidney and ureter, etc. No sense inbrem9ving if have not tried immunotherapy or chemo first. But know hospitals, hate to say, but do make more money off removal surgeries then office visits and biopsies...Sorry but really am fed up with medical systems. If had taken care when I was first sent to MD Anderson possibly could have prevented spread or need for removal of organs. So yes am a bit upset. So am checking insurance to see about going to Mayo in Az because now have no faith in docs that cannot even get biopsy done without crushing tussue samples. I am not keen on Resudent d9cs doung biopsies as theur hands do not have enough experience in handling fragile tissue.
