My husband is just day 13 post Whipple. He did remarkably well. He came home day 4 after surgery. He has been doing well at home sans the eating. I’ve been told this is perfectly normal, but he has been having some diarrhea and loose stools so of course he is losing weight. I’m working like crazy trying to find what works food wise. He’s not taking anything as yet.
We have a televisit with UVA Monday and will address this and the Creon and its Nutrients I read about here.
Thanks for this site!

@jerryc131 does your husband take any anti nausea meds? My dx was stage 1 PanCan. I had chemo 6 times in 3 mos then Whipple & 6 more chemos in 3mos post op. I had no issues with nausea. I believe that may be because I had a cholecystectomy in'84 & gastric bypass in '05. I remember I briefly had nausea after both surgeries but icy cold protein smoothies I made (at home not the store-bought kind) helped with my nausea back then. I am sorry I wish I had some other helpful advice but I was told nausea after stomach surgery was normal! I would call your oncologist and ask for an anti nausea med and a consult with a nutritionist. She helped me more than the dietician who seemed to be more concerned with measuring food & calories instead of suggesting easily digestible forms of protein. Also I have to take vitamins and I find the gummie form of D2 D3, B12 and Vitamin C are so much easier to digest than pills and capsules. Ther are sugar free options too. Best of luck.

@jerryc131 How did your visit with UVA go on the 18th?
