I went there for a 3rd opinion last year. The urologist oncologist reviewed all the tests and recommended active surveillance and said that the chance of this spreading was “tiny.” A follow up MRI and biopsy in the beginning of this year showed a 2nd lesion 3+4. When I questioned how a tiny chance turned out to be a significant chance, he really couldn’t say. I needed treatment and opted for surgery. He was pushing for surgery at NYU because of how “advanced” they are and the techniques he uses are not done elsewhere. I lost faith in him and had surgery 5 weeks ago at a local hospital near home in NJ. I dont know where you live but traveling into NYC for me was a minimum 4hr round trip. My understanding is that NYU sends patients home the same day. Whether you’re traveling by train or car you don't want to be dealing with the streets and highways of NYC with a Foley in you.
