Hi @grantwriter,

It is important to consider that side effects are not experienced by everyone who takes a medication. While osteoporosis medications can have some big side effects, the number of people they effect may not be as large as what an online community can imply. This is not to diminish those who experience the side effects - it is just to point out that typically members who have had great experiences tend to post a great deal less than those who have unfortunately experienced the negative side effects of an osteoporosis medication.

Did your provider mention how long it would take to see improvement or was the goal to maintain your bone density at the level it currently is to help ward off more fractures moving forward? Have you experienced any side effects?

@JustinMcClanahan I have to take levothyroxine since my thyroid was killed with radioactive iodine back in 2010. I am petite and short and have lost only about 1 inch of height and have taken Fosemax several years, then Boniva, and now I have had a year of Evenity infusions. I am supposed to take Reclast now to maintain the gains I got on my DEXA from taking the Evenity. I am scared of the side effects of Reclast. If someone has a thyroid condition could that mean I might have side effects. I didn't have any side effects from Evenity but I am hearing about the flu symptoms, having to be hydrated and taking Tylenol. This is scary. I am 78 and am otherwise healthy. I have a new grandson, so I want to be able to hold him. I exercise and take Calcium and other supplements to help my bones.
