@wes152 , I’m no expert, but, i would try to find one in your state to explain the options. Usually, the social worker or financial office in a nursing home can assist. Usually, there are 2 types of long term care financial assistance , 1) is Assisted Living which comes from the state and has strict income limits as well as asset limits. Not much leeway. And 2) long term care in a nursing home. True longterm care Medicaid. This is we where you get actual long term care Medicaid. It also has asset limitation requirements, though one auto and one home are exempt and income is considered, but unless you actually have enough income to pay the full month’s long term care facility fee, they work it out. You have to use all but about $40.00 per month from your income, but they pay the rest. If you have investments accounts, savings, etc., this route is still possible, but you have to spenddown those assets first. It’s a lot of work for 3 months, but I’d explore it with an expert in your area.
